Parish Council Letter
We exist to connect with the community, connect with families and connect with God
Dear Parish Council,
Thank you for taking the time to read this letter updating you on Holme Family Connect and explaining our funding needs for the summer holiday program that we are hoping to run.
We have been working hard at getting established in the village since I last visited the Parish council meeting. Everything is going well and Connect Youth has been well attended through the last 2 months with 26 in attendance last week. Connect Toddlers has been running well with around 30 families registered and regular attendance is good.
Unfortunately due to a volunteer having a bereavement we have been unable to start the seated exercise classes. The hope is that this service will start in the new academic year in September.
We are looking ahead as an organisation to plan the activities for the summer holidays as we are aware that the Anti Social Behavior increased at this time last year. We have had some success in raising funds that have covered the cost of the one session per week thus far and for the coming months in term time only. Therefore, we need to raise the funds to be able to maintain and increase our offering over the summer holidays.
We would like to increase our offering in the summer holidays to two night per week and to take the young people on a trip. We would be delighted if you consider supporting us and meeting these needs of the young people in the community. These costs are estimated and would cover 6 weeks of youth work for the young people of Holme on Spalding Moor.
Additional Summer Sessions
We intend to remain open over the summer for youth work. We currently have the salary for a youth worker for one night per week that can be used over the summer holidays. However, we will need funding for the general running of the youth club and the second night salary estimated below. The increased session will aim to include young people more in the community, which may lead to less anti social behavior over the summer. However, there are added benefits to the young people in offering informal learning opportunities, that will build confidence and foster positive relationships between the young people and youth workers.
Youth Worker Costs per week | Food and Activity cost per week | Total cost for 6 weeks. |
£100 | £100 | £1200 |
Trip Details
We feel that taking the young people on a trip will be beneficial. With the lack of access to public transport in the village leading to young people becoming isolated, we feel that the investment in a trip will give them learning opportunities that they would otherwise not be able to access. This will support us in building relationships with the young people, and this will be followed up with an invitation to join us again in the autumn term for the youth club sessions.
Activity | Cost per Child | Total Cost |
Trip to Let Loose including food, transport and activities | £56 x 15 Young People | £850 |
Overall, we are requesting £2,050 to run the summer program, which aims to intervene in the anti-social behavior and improve the young people’s sense of belonging within the local community. We have been successful in securing the funding to this point and are looking to funding organisations and charities to fund the term time project from September.
Yours Sincerely
Nicola Thorpe
